Wipfli, a top 20 accounting and business consulting firm in the U.S., has been named the winner of the 2020-2021 New North Workplace Excellence Award.
The award recognizes organizations within the New North region of Wisconsin that use integrated people practices to improve their competitive advantage and enable successful business outcomes. Businesses are evaluated based on employee engagement, business outcomes and overall success.
New North, an economic development corporation in Northeast Wisconsin, awarded Wipfli the honor because of the culture and people practices the firm has developed over the past two decades. Judges were impressed by how Wipfli has built on its service excellence guidelines to develop an empathy-based outward mindset philosophy that encourages collaboration and understanding among associates, as well as a highly consultative approach to engaging with clients and further building the business. Judges were similarly impressed with Wipfli’s low turnover, high client satisfaction and the firm’s strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
“We are honored to present Wipfli with the New North Workplace Excellence Award,” said Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc. “They are a long-time pillar of our regional business community and illustrate how ongoing evolution of people and business practices creates positive results. We salute how Wipfli encourages and supports its Wipfli family to give back to local causes and is a leader in its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.”
“The New North’s vision is to be recognized as nationally and globally competitive. That’s Wipfli’s vision as well, and we’re proud of the people who make it possible from our home in Wisconsin,” said Wipfli Managing Partner Kurt Gresens. “We’re truly excited and honored to be recognized for our focus on building a modern workforce, fostering a diverse culture of curious individuals and creating a future-focused firm with talent at the center.”
New North made the announcement at the New North Summit, held June 10 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Gresens accepted the honor in the presence of New North executives, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, and over 500 business executives and community leaders from throughout the New North region.
