Our pledge to diversity and inclusion
At Wipfli, we believe in a workplace — and world — where everyone feels included and diversity is embraced.
To foster that, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone is equally supported, empowered and encouraged. A place where every associate feels their culture and identity are valued and respected. A place where every voice matters.
We are respectful of each individual and the unique strengths and contributions each brings. We encourage diversity of thought because we know the more diverse the voices are, the stronger we are.
Managing Partner Kurt Gresens has signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, joining more than 2,400 CEOs who have pledged to leverage their individual and collective voices to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Our commitment to a diverse workplace is evident in our initiatives:
- Leadership
- Recruitment
- Unconscious bias education
- Inclusion training
- Annual DEI-focused scholarships for interns
- Diverse business resource groups
Voices for associates
Our business resource groups give voice to, and elevate, issues inside our firm for diverse groups. To elevate underrepresented voices at Wipfli, we have five business resource groups.
- Women of Wipfli’s purpose is to cultivate an environment where women have an equitable opportunity to achieve their goals and find their version of success.
- Wipfli Pride’s vision is to aspire to be the most LGBTQ+-friendly firm, where allyship and belonging are the standard.
- The mission of Embrace, Wipfli’s Alliance to Amplify Multiculturalism, is to support our current diverse, underrepresented associates and to increase the firm’s opportunity to attract, engage, nurture and retain multicultural associates.
- The mission of Valor is to create a community to honor and serve military members, veterans and their families.
- Women of Wipfli India — Aparajita: The vision of Aparajita is for Wipfli India to be the firm of choice for women as they frame up their version of a successful life.
Partnerships
At Wipfli, we believe that fostering diversity, equity and inclusion is not just a goal but a fundamental aspect of our corporate culture and business strategy. To further this commitment, we have established strategic partnerships with various organizations that share our vision of creating a more inclusive professional landscape:
- Accounting+: Wipfli has joined Accounting+, an industry collective effort to improve diversity in accounting by working to create a more diverse talent pipeline and helping more students discover opportunities in the profession.
- Hiring Our Heroes: Wipfli has an agreement with Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation that connects transitioning military service members, veterans and military spouses with American businesses through hiring events, digital programs, training fellowships and internships to develop a pipeline of talent ready to join the firm.
- Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP): We are an official partner in the Defense Department's Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, known as the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP). This program connects military spouses with employers, creating meaningful career paths through recruiting, hiring, advancing and retaining military spouses.
- Out and Equal: Wipfli has partnered with Out and Equal, a workplace advocacy nonprofit dedicated to advancing the cause of LGBTQ+ representation and inclusion globally. Out and Equal provides organizations with the resources and expertise they need to become better allies and advance the causes of equality and LGBTQ+ rights worldwide.
- Out in Finance: As a supporter of the volunteer-based nonprofit working to drive LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion within financial services, Wipfli joined the Out in Finance network of more than 1500 (and growing) individual LGBTQ+ finance professionals, potential clients, investors, business partners and other stakeholders to recruit, learn and build support for our peers in the industry.
- Disability:IN: Wipfli is a financial supporter and partner with Disability:IN, a leading nonprofit focused on business disability inclusion. They work to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities across a network of more than 500 organizations. The partnership helps Wipfli stay aware of best practices in meeting the needs of and engaging effectively with current associates, as well as helps strengthen the firm’s recruiting efforts.
- Ascend: Wipfli has partnered with Ascend, the largest Pan-Asian business professional membership organization in North America. This partnership aims to enhance leadership and professional development opportunities for Pan-Asian professionals within the firm and the broader business community.
- Alpha (Association of Latino Professionals for America): We are a proud sponsor of Alpha, a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering and developing Latino men and women in every sector. Through this partnership, Wipfli supports ALPFA’s mission of inspiring and empowering the Latino community, while gaining access to a diverse talent pool and participating in professional development programs, networking events, and leadership opportunities.
- Wipfli is a supporter of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, an organization that supports and represents nearly 300,000 students attending historically Black colleges and universities and predominantly Black institutions. Through this collaboration, Wipfli actively participates in TMCF’s programs, including career fairs, internship opportunities and scholarship initiatives.
