The Challenge
The client needed to manage financial performance and budgeting across multiple entities that operated in different fiscal years. At the time, differences in security requirements made cross-functional collaboration difficult, as did variances in reporting and planning tools. The organization needed a single solution to manage all its entities and simplify planning and reporting. Since Planful is a cloud-based platform that integrates with Excel and other business tools the client used, it was selected.
The Solution
Wipfli helped the union implement the new software and trained staff to ensure a fast and smooth adoption. Planful offered dynamic reporting via a simple interface — and everything the client needed:
- Fast and easy data collection for budgeting, even from geographically dispersed users.
- Simple planning models, plus the ability to zoom into events or out to consolidated views.
- Roll-up reporting for departmental financial statements, balance sheets and cash flow.

The results
Planful was up and running in less than three months, with about one hour of user training. Now, the company has organization-wide budgeting and planning templates to track operating expenses, travel, projects and events. Bringing everything together minimized data entry and gave the team greater control over performance and expense.
