GDPR: How Tough Privacy Protection Rules Abroad May Impact Your Organization

Tougher, more expansive rules to protect the information of consumers and employees will soon take effect. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) from the European Union (EU) addresses personal data privacy considerations through a standard set of data protection requirements. Effective May 25, 2018, GDPR replaces the prior EU Data Protection Directive adopted in 1995. The new regulation, unlike the prior directive, represents a standard data protection regulation across all 28 EU countries — and has global implications.
