Advanced Preparation: None
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisite: None
Field of Study: Business Management & Organization
CPE*: 1.5 credit(s)
Description
“I’m just a team member — I don’t have to worry about fraud” and “My teammates wouldn’t do that to us.” These two thoughts are frequently heard and believed. Unfortunately, organizations are too frequently targeted by fraudsters or teammates caught up in life’s circumstances. What could someone do? Why should “I” be concerned about it? The reality is that team members are the first line of defense and frequently know, or suspect, something is amiss before anyone else has even the slightest inkling. This session will illustrate the important role staff play and how the team can be good stewards for the organization.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of how fraud impacts organizations.
- Learn how staff and the team can help protect the organization from becoming a fraud statistic.
- Learn tips for spotting potential issues and what to do next.
