Sessions
A&A and tax updates, John Erwin and Houston Holmes, Wipfli
Often, it seems as though the accounting profession is changing faster than we can keep up. In this presentation, our speaker will discuss recently issued or effective guidance as well as current accounting, auditing and tax issues. With a focus on the big picture and what you need to know now, we’ll cover a wide range of topics and give attendees a look at the most prevalent issues to keep in mind for the upcoming year.
Lessons from a milkshake: A perspective on innovation and competition, Luis Murgas, Wipfli
Despite the increasing presence of digital tools in everyday life, the challenge of technology adoption remains a common problem in business. Often, many dollars invested in new technologies are wasted when adoption rates are low. We’ll discuss how to assess and mitigate the challenges associated with adopting new tech solutions in your organization.
Wall Street vs. Main Street: How changes in the stock market may or may not impact the value of your business, Lisa Cribben, Wipfli
Since its inception, the stock market indices (e.g., Nasdaq, S&P, Dow) have been notoriously volatile. The erratic and sometimes irrational movement of the stock market indices can be impacted by daily news cycles, investment supply and demand, current investor perception, and even computer modeling that buys and sells stock in the same day. The ease with which individual shares can be traded has impacted this volatility. This same dynamic does not happen when you are selling shares in a closely held business where transactions move at a much slower pace. However, the same types of economics that affect the value of a publicly traded business do impact the value of a closely held business. In this presentation, we will delve into the trends in the stock market and how it can correlate and not correlate to the EBTIDA multiples, plus what business owners can do to maximize value.
Wealth management techniques for any weather, Jeff Juday, Creative Planning
No matter what the current market looks like, there are wealth management techniques that investors can be leveraging. In this presentation, learn about common investor mistakes, building a portfolio based on a plan, key techniques for any weather, alternative investments and the art of coordinating estate planning with portfolio management.
