Jason Wimmer joins Wipfli LLP as a partner in the firm’s financial institutions practice

Wipfli LLP announced today that Jason Wimmer has joined the firm’s financial institutions practice as a tax partner in the Minnesota Region.

"We have major plans for growth in Wipfli’s financial institutions practice," stated Rick Dreher, partner-in-charge of the firm. "Because of that anticipated growth, we are excited to add Jason to the partnership and the firm’s Minnesota Region."

"We are thrilled that Jason has joined Wipfli and will be working with our financial institution clients," said JoAnn Cotter, partner in charge of Wipfli’s Financial Institutions practice. "He will further strengthen the range of services we are able to provide to Minnesota’s financial institutions."

Prior to joining Wipfli, Wimmer worked for 12 years with a national CPA firm, where he focused on the financial services industry, including banks, credit unions, insurance agencies, mortgage companies, investment companies / advisors, and finance and leasing companies. His experience includes providing income tax planning and compliance services, providing cost segregation studies to accelerate tax deductions, providing assistance to clients to help them meet the requirements of FIN48, and providing tax situation reviews for the dual purpose of minimizing tax obligations and improving cash flow. Wimmer also has experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and various state Departments of Revenue.

A Certified Public Accountant, Wimmer is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA).

Wimmer earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Cloud State University (St. Cloud, Minnesota) and a master of business taxation degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
