Wipfli expands strategic advisory services practice focused on financial institutions

Wipfli LLP, a leading CPA and consulting firm, announced today that it has expanded its strategic advisory services practice for financial institutions with the recent addition of Ron Slater as a senior manager. Slater brings 40 years of banking leadership experience to the firm’s financial institutions practice and its clients, and specializes in providing strategic planning, board governance, c-suite consulting and merger and acquisition services to clients.

With a strong background working with financial institutions, Slater has worked for many years in leadership roles. Prior to joining Wipfli, Slater was president and CEO of Bankers’ Bank in Madison, Wisconsin, and served in the same capacity on all subsidiary and holding company boards. Slater also served as the chair of the Wisconsin Bankers’ Association and was actively involved in the recent chief executive officer search for the association. He has a broad background in governance, incentive compensation modeling, and many other consulting services to offer the financial industry.
 
Slater was an appointed member of the Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) for the National Bankers’ Advisory Board and has represented community banking on numerous Independent Community Bankers of America and American Bankers’ Association committees. In addition, he is a past president of the Bankers’ Bank Council (BBC), a registered association of the nation’s 15 bankers’ banks. He was involved in the creation of the Community Bankers’ Association of Wisconsin. A seasoned expert in the industry, Slater has also been a frequent speaker at numerous state, regional, and national banking events, including presentations at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
 
Slater holds a bachelor of business administration degree in sales/marketing and accounting from Madison Business College in Madison, Wisconsin, and has completed the program at the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate School of Banking, where he focused on bank administration.
