Scott Riser joins Wipfli as audit and assurance partner

Wipfli LLP announced that Scott Riser has joined the firm as an audit and assurance partner focused on serving construction and real estate companies in the Midwest. In his new role at Wipfli, Riser brings more than 18 years of audit and assurance experience specializing in working with companies in the industry.
“Scott is extremely well-versed in the challenges facing construction and real estate organizations in today’s economy and excels at helping them solve their complex accounting and business issues,” said John Schwab, partner-in-charge of the construction and real estate practice for Wipfli. “As a seasoned expert, he will provide Wipfli’s clients with value-added services and real-world solutions to help them succeed.”
Prior to joining Wipfli, Riser was a partner and regional leader for the construction and real estate and commercial services groups at a national public accounting firm. Over his 18 years in the profession, he has specialized in working with general and specialty trade contractors; and real estate developers, operators, investment funds, and REITs. His clients have ranged from venture-funded startups to multinational companies, and have included both private and publicly held companies. In addition to his experience with companies in the construction industry, Riser also has experience in the manufacturing and distribution industry, having worked with a number of manufacturers in Minnesota and around the Midwest, including medical device, technology and software companies.
A certified public accountant, Riser is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also extensively involved in the construction and real estate industry as a member of the Construction Financial Management Association, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, National Association of Real Estate Companies, Associated General Contractors of Minnesota, Chicago Building Congress, Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, Turnaround Management Association, and the Association for Corporate Growth. He has also been a featured expert on panels at regional industry conferences. Riser holds a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Iowa State University.
