Since the enactment of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) of 1977 and the recent 1998 amendments to anti-bribery provisions, much has changed for industry. Our world has gotten smaller, and companies that never dreamed of international commerce opportunities are now conducting business in foreign markets or are supplying bigger operations that do. In either case, being familiar with the FCPA and understanding anticorruption risk management is absolutely vital.
