When the banking industry said goodbye and good riddance to 2011, there was considerable confidence that bank merger and acquisition activity would improve with the new year. Clearly, any movement would be a vast improvement over such a dismal 2011. Still, most believed the rebound would be much quicker and more fervent than it has been. Finally, the promise of increased deal activity in both numbers and values is here.
